Fitted with 20" Diamond Cut alloy wheels, Gloss Black callipers, Carbon Ceramic discs and shod with a matching set of Pirelli P Zero tyres. This 2011 DBS has covered 57,600 miles from new and has had six former keepers. In January 2013, at just two years old, the car was subject to an insurance claim and recorded as a Category D. This is the predecessor to today's Category N (minor) classification. The precise circumstances of the claim are unclear, and I could not establish whether it related to theft and recovery or relatively light damage. Importantly, the car subsequently remained eligible for, and covered by, an Aston Martin Extended Warranty until 2019, which, for me, was most reassuring.

Now it gets better! During the previous owner's five-year tenure, the car was entrusted to the renowned Aston Workshop in Beamish, County Durham. Few specialists have a deeper understanding of Aston Martin's classic and modern models, and the owner's approach was refreshingly simple: no expense spared, with the instruction to carry out anything considered necessary to keep the car in first-class mechanical condition.

The result was an astonishing £34,000 in invoices during this period, including a comprehensive engine rebuild costing £21,800. The history folder is equally impressive, containing every service invoice, parts invoice and MOT certificate, right back to the car's original delivery. For anyone who appreciates the importance of a fully documented maintenance history when buying a specialist Aston Martin, this is an exceptionally compelling feature which, for me, goes a long way towards outweighing the car's historic Category status. Whilst that may not appeal to every buyer, it is worth remembering that we are talking about an incident from over 13 years ago. Without knowledge of its recorded history, one would be unable to identify it from either its appearance or the way it drives. The car presents and performs beautifully, a testament to the considerable investment and care lavished upon it in recent years.

Before being offered for sale, the car will go to my Aston Martin specialist for a comprehensive health check, a fresh service and a new MOT.
